The International Living portal has published a ranking of the countries most attractive for retirement in 2025. The first place was taken by Panama, thanks to the beneficial Pensionado program, which allows foreigners to obtain a permanent residence permit with a pension of 1,000 US dollars per month (or from 1,250 dollars for a married couple).

The third place was taken by Costa Rica, known for its environmental protection policy and philosophy Pura Vida, which translates to "clean living" or "living in harmony".
