Greece's investment program for foreigners is breaking all records
So-called "investment passports" are one of the popular ways to overcome the economic crisis and stabilize the domestic market. First introduced in 1984 in the Caribbean, the "Golden Visa" quickly gained popularity. Today, more than 20 countries around the world, including Greece, offer their investment programs for residence permits.
The Greek "Golden Visa" began operating in 2013. During this period, billions of euros have entered the country's budget. Many citizens of Russia, China, and Turkey want to obtain a residence permit on preferential terms, without the long-term naturalization period. In August 2023, the program conditions changed: the minimum limit for purchasing real estate in the country's most popular tourist regions was increased. To what extent have these innovations affected foreign investors and what are the future prospects? We will discuss further.
