The Romanian authorities are preparing to launch a new investment immigration program, which will allow foreigners to obtain a five—year residence permit and in the future Romanian citizenship.
The project, officially called the "Residency through Investment Program", is aimed at citizens of countries outside the European Union and the European Economic Area.
According to the bill, an investor can apply for a five-year renewable residence permit provided that they invest at least 400,000 euros in the Romanian economy. After this period, participants will be able to apply for permanent residence and subsequent citizenship, subject to the requirements for legal residence and preservation of investments.
The program offers several options where you can invest your funds.:
1️⃣ Romanian government bonds — purchase of securities in the amount of 400,000 euros or more for a period of at least five years.
2️⃣ Real estate — purchase of residential or commercial properties worth from 400,000 euros with mandatory ownership for at least five years.
3️⃣ Investment funds approved by Office of Financial Supervision (ASF).
4️⃣ Shares of Romanian companieslisted on the stock exchange in the amount of 400,000 euros or more.
Thus, investors will be able to choose the most appropriate way to invest their funds, from real estate to financial instruments, depending on their goals and strategy.
Applicants must prove the legality of the origin of the capital, must not appear on sanctions lists and pose a threat to national security.
Before the application is approved, the internal and foreign intelligence services of Romania (SRI and SIE) are checked, as well as the National Anti-Money Laundering Office (ONPCSB) and other relevant structures.
Such multi-stage control should ensure the transparency of the program and minimize the risk of abuse.
