From November 21, 2025, Slovenia officially launches a visa designed specifically for those who work remotely — that is, for digital nomads. This initiative is aimed at attracting professionals from other countries who can do their work online and are independent of a specific office.
This is a one-year residence permit in Slovenia for remote workers, which will be issued to citizens of countries outside the EU and EEA. The visa allows you to stay and live in the country for 12 months. However, it is worth noting that an extension is not possible — if you want to return, you will have to wait at least six months outside Slovenia before applying again.
The new program is aimed at the following candidates:
Applications are also allowed for family members, but they will be prohibited from being employed by Slovenian employers.
To obtain a visa for a digital nomad, you must prepare the following documents:
The minimum income level will be set officially — at the time of publication, the exact amount has not yet been announced.
The application process is as flexible as possible:
Slovenia offers digital nomads the perfect balance: scenic nature, safe environment, affordable prices and good infrastructure for remote work. Cities like Ljubljana, Maribor or Kopra are actively developing coworking spaces, and stable Internet and high mobility make the country convenient for living and productive work.
The introduction of visas for digital nomads makes Slovenia part of a growing global movement where countries compete for mobile specialists. If you dreamed of living in Europe but continuing to work for your foreign company, Slovenia is now one of the most accessible and convenient points on the map.
