Cryptocurrency Toncoin (TON) has risen in price by 10% over the past day amid high-profile news from the developers of the blockchain project TON. A project closely related to the Telegram messenger has announced the launch of an immigration program in the UAE called TON Golden Visa.

According to the terms of the program, participants can obtain a 10-year residence visa in the United Arab Emirates by depositing $100,000 in Toncoin for a period of at least three years, as well as paying a single fee in in the amount of $35,000. The application can be submitted online, and the procedure for obtaining residency takes about seven weeks on average.

What is TON?

TON (The Open Network) is a scalable blockchain platform originally developed by the Telegram team. Despite the fact that the messenger itself officially withdrew from the project due to regulatory pressure from the SEC in 2020, the development of TON continued through the efforts of the independent community and the TON Foundation.

The main goal of TON is to provide fast and cheap transactions, scalability and convenient integration with Telegram. The TON network can run smart contracts, decentralized applications (dApps), and use the Toncoin cryptocurrency, which is the network's native token.

The TON Golden Visa program is not only a step towards the international recognition of the Toncoin cryptocurrency, but also an example of how the blockchain industry can integrate into the sphere of real state-legal mechanisms. The emergence of such initiatives indicates the growing interest of states in digital assets and the possibilities of their application outside the virtual economy.
