15.08.2023 Digital Nomad Visa and Residence Permit

The Digital Nomad Visa program is gaining popularity worldwide. In the first quarter of 2022 alone, more than 3,300 applicants applied to consulates and visa centers. And the first half of 2023 broke all records: 15,600 applications were submitted. That is, over the past year, demand for "digital nomad" visas has grown by 375%. At the same time, many remote professionals are deterred by high financial requirements for applicants. Most countries have set a minimum monthly income of 2,000-4,000 euros or dollars.

For example, those wishing to obtain a residence permit in Greece must provide bank statements confirming a monthly income of 3,500 euros. If the applicant is traveling with family, an additional 20% must be added for the spouse, and 15% for each child or dependent. Portugal requires proven income of at least three minimum wages (as of 2023, this amount is €3,040). Spanish conditions are slightly more lenient: earnings must be at least €2,334 per month. If a specialist is determined to live and work in Dubai, their income must be at least $5,000. But is everything really so sad? Today we will dispel the persistent myth that the "digital nomad" visa is only for highly paid specialists.
