Record of 2023: "Golden visas" bring Greece 200 million euros per month

The Greece Golden Visa Program has been successfully operating since 2013. The most popular option is for "investment passports" obtained through the purchase of real estate – nine times out of ten, people prefer to invest in this type of investment. According to the Migration Service, over 26,000 people have received "golden passports" in ten years. Of these, about 1,300 are Russians. Billions of euros have been invested in the Greek economy, allowing the country to recover from the 2008-09 financial crisis.

Over time, the conditions have changed. For example, in 2019, the option of investing in securities, bonds, or deposits for a minimum of 5 years was added to the purchase of real estate. In 2021, applications began to be accepted remotely, without the need to visit Greece. And 2023 "delighted" foreign investors with an increase in the limit on real estate purchases in 36 of the most popular tourist and densely populated areas of the country. Nevertheless, analysts are noting a real boom, breaking all previous records in the number of applications submitted.
